

Harry Marx, age 95, passed away March 7, 2013. Harry was born on August 15, 1917 in Cedar Valley, Texas. He was a third generation resident of the Oak Hill area and the oldest member of the Marx-Rutter family.
Harry was a veteran of World World II. On June 6, 1944 he landed in Normandy on D-Day. On August 20, 1944 he was wounded and was awarded a purple heart.
After coming home from the war in 1945, Harry ran the family rock quarry in Oak Hill, selling and hauling rock to build many places in the Austin area.
In 1973, Harry began working for Travis County in Parks Maintenance until 1982.
Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting and telling jokes and stories. He and his brothers always had a beautiful garden that was admired by many who passed by. He was a very giving person and showed his kindness to everyone he met.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Otto and Annie Rutter Marx, his brother Otto Jr, two sisters Molly Townsend and Rosie Worrell. He is survived by a sister, Marie Kretzschmar, two brothers, Paul, Donald and wife Nellie, 4 nephews (James Kretzschmar, Keith Worrell, Bill Marx, Kenneth Marx) and 4 nieces (Susie Townsend, Bonnie Marx, Betty Fickel and Sandy Jones). Harry is also survived by 4 great nieces and 2 great nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 3:30 pm at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Dripping Springs.
Harry will be truly missed by all that knew him.
