The beloved matriarch of our family passed away Feb 26, 2010. Hazel was born to Etta and Lee Mansfield of Amarillo, TX, married Ernest Ray Smoot, and moved to Los Angeles. It was there they shared their raised their family. Hazel returned to Texas in 1996.
She is survived by her grandson, George Durgin, Jr., granddaughter, Denise Ellis, great-grandson, George Durgin III, and great-granddaughter, Chandler Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her daughter, Lola Kay, her mother, Etta, her father, Lee, and brothers Vance and Hobert.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Hazel’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
