Helen Ruth Fellers Crawford was born at home in Dallas, Texas on November 12, 1925 to her loving parents, Carl Marx Fellers and Sophia Lavina. She survived one brother, Roy Gilbert Fellers of Lodi, California and one sister, Lola Mae Gustafson of Brenham, Texas.
At age 16, she graduated from Azle High School where she was a cheerleader. She found great joy in keeping in touch with friends and cousins there.
She attended Nixon-Clay Business School while working for a construction company before moving to Austin. She then enjoyed six years of employment with the City of Austin Electric department. There she met the love of her life, R. G. Crawford, who had just returned from the US Navy. They married 1947 and were blessed with four wonderful children. That marriage lasted 36 years.
In 1983 R. G. passed away, leaving his family and a host of friends and relatives. Helen found that life does go on. She did volunteer work, joined clubs and loved to travel. During this time, she found happiness in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as in her friends at church, First Cumberland Presbyterian and the Widow’s Group of Hyde Park Baptist Church.
She took great pride in becoming and associate member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and in joining the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority and remained friends with many people who were important to her.
She is survived by her four children, Judy Huey and her husband, Dr. Dicky Huey, Christye Forbis and her husband, Steve Forbis, Ray Crawford and partner, Don Henderson, Richard Crawford and his wife, Kristina Crawford; 7 grandchildren, Vicki Guel and her husband, Gabe, Jeffrey Mueller and his wife, Maureen, Sarah Seay and her husband, Corey, Adrienne Pollard and her finance, Nathan, Scott Pollard, Kallie Crawford and Kolton Crawford; 3 great-grandchildren, Payton Perkins, Sydney Perkins and Jaxon Seay; and numerous nieces and nephews.
