“No one has greater love than this, to lay, down one’s life for one’s brother.” John 15:13
It is fitting that Helen was born on Valentine’s Day, 80 years ago, because she was an example of Love to everyone.
Helen was the fourth of ten children, born to Joseph and Hermina Mokry, in Granger, Texas. She grew up in Austin and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1950. She was highly respected for her knowledge and professionalism in the field of banking. Her career with the Austin National Bank lasted 42 years, retiring in 1993.
Helen enjoyed cooking, horse racing, and football. Her team was Notre Dame. She loved to keep her house “spic and span,” and work in her yard with her best friend and brother Albert. She always enjoyed visiting with her large extended family at the Mokry-Rosipal family reunion.
Helen was an exceptional person who unselfishly cared for her handicapped brother Albert, for seven years, in her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Hermina Mokry, and four brothers, Dan, Joe, Bob and Albert Mokry. Her surviving family includes three sisters, Edith Crawford, Mildred Trank, and Loretta Ciora. Also, two brothers Roman and Clarence Mokry, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Love is the greatest gift – Helen was that gift to all who knew her, especially her family.
She died peacefully November 1, the Feast of All Saints.
The family would like to thank Arden Courts, Hospice of Austin, and Helen’s care giver, Esperonza Rocha for their care and devotion to Helen.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from half-past five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 5th of November 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at seven o’clock that evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 7th of November, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 4311 Small Rd, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
