Henry O. Salas

Henry O. Salas, age 79, of Austin, went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, July 21, 2003. He was born in Elroy, to Jose and Mariana Salas on July 14, 1924. Henry served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. On October 10, 1942, he married Minnie Valencia, and to this union seven children were born. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Minnie Salas; children, Guadalupe Salas and wife Maria, Gloria Mireles and husband Marsalino, Mary Esther Baldazo and husband Jesse, Virginia Tovar and husband Manuel, Henry Salas Jr. and wife Mary Esther, and Robert Salas and wife Dorothy; sister, Rosie Amezquita; brother, Manuel Salas; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth; brothers, Ollie, Jose, Jesse and Lawrence Salas; and sister, Clara Santana. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2003, at St. Julia Catholic Church, Reverend Jim Fahey as celebrant.
