

Herbert Martin Nauert, Jr. passed away January 2, 2014 in Austin, Texas. He was born August 8, 1930 to Herbert and Julia Wentland Nauert in Travis County. Herb graduated from Pflugerville High School in 1948 and married his High School sweetheart Dora Nell Mehner on May 26, 1951. He played professional baseball for Harlingen, Galveston and Lamesa in the Texas League. Herbert worked for many years at Buttercrust Bakery in Austin and retired from White Swan Institutional Foods as warehouse operations manager after 20 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and good ole get-togethers with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters; Elizabeth Hilton, Lois Orsak, and Tommie Neuenschwander. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dora Mehner Nauert; children: Rebecca Nauert Nicolaou and husband Ted (Los Angeles), Nancy Nauert King and husband John (Austin), Herb Nauert III and wife Kristin (Austin); grandchildren: Corinna Nicolaou and husband Phil Gruen, Alex Nicolaou, Katelyn, John David, and Daniel King, Avery and Abbey Nauert; sisters: Jean Simpson, Joyce Norton; brother: Robert Nauert and wife Joyce; in-laws: Colleen Mehner, Wilbert Witte; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, and extended family at Messiah Lutheran Church. Pallbearers: (nephews) William Boyd, Robert Boyd, Raymond Orsak, Jerry Simpson, Ron Simpson, Bobby Simpson, Ricky Norton, Kevin Norton, Jeffery Neuenschwander, and Chris Nauert.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on January 4th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2014, conducted by Rev. David Melber and Rev. Keith Born at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5701 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78723. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
