

H. E. Burris, age 90, left his three attentive daughters, Barbara Gunn husband Jack, Sharon Cowan husband Dan, Nancy Howell husband Daniel. He loved his nine grandchildren, Joel, Jason, Jana, Marci, Jeremy, Kara, Julie, Joshua and Bethany. His legacy will also be seen in his twenty-one great-grandchildren. H. E. Burris has left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he has come in contact with.
Reverend Burris most recently residing in Lockhart, Texas passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 with complications of pneumonia. He left this world as he lived in it—peacefully. He breathed a final breath in this work and then began a new life on the other side of glory.
Herman was born May 9, 1922 in Monticello, Kentucky to George and Bessie Burris. His death was proceeded by that of his wife, Iva Nell Burris; his sister, Nondes Shively of Goodlettsville, Tennessee and a generation of heroes including in this past year his friends, Richard Smotts of Waxahatchi, Texas and David Coote of San Antonio, Texas.
H. E. Burris was married June 15, 1944 in Killeen, Texas prior to his deployment to the European theater of World War II. Following his return from war, Reverend Burris Founded and pastored thirteen churches across the Midwest including Calvary Apostolic Church of Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was an active evangelist, missionary and servant of Christ. Reverend Burris dedicated his ministry to the mentoring of young ministers, especially in his work with The International Bible College of San Antonio, Texas. Interwoven across his ministry was ownership of Burris Builders in San Antonio, Texas and his career as Facilities Director at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas where he was affectionately known as "Bob" Burris. In his retirement, H. E. Burris worshipped at Christian Life Church in Austin, Texas.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Christian Life Church, 4700 Westgate, Austin, Texas with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 pm with the Reverend Rex Johnson officiating.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Mission Park North Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
