Herminia was born in Mendoza, TX on August 23, 1924 to Pablo Cruz and Salome Ruiz. She married Gustavo Gutierrez Rodriguez on August 17, 1946 (who preceded her in death). She had 5 children, Marta, Mario, Roberto, Gustavo, and Herminia. She died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of June 18, 2019.
Herminia was dedicated to her family. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma and friend. As a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was well loved. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, drawing, and tending to her household and family.
Herminia was always a pillar of strength and wisdom for her family. Over the years, many came to her for advice, prayers, and support. She always had a kind word but she always told you the truth. Honesty, humility, and resilience are several words her family would use to describe her. She was an advocate of higher learning and made sure that each one of her children received a proper education to pursue their chosen careers.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Salome and Pablo; as well as her sisters and brothers, Severo, Pablo, Maria de los Angeles (Gela), and Alicia (Licha); and granddaughter Lindsay. She is survived by her sister, Teresa (Tere); her daughters and sons, Marta, Mario, Roberto, Gustavo, and Herminia; her grandchildren Isaias, Mirthala, Benjamin, Gustavo, Yeshua, Karina, Diana, Roberto, Marcelo, Eugenio, Gustavo, Larry Giovanni, Loren Dominic, Leslee Brandon, Lonnie Justin, Brenda, Carla, Nadya Salome, David James; and many great-grandchildren.
We thank Dr. Peter Garcia for the exceptional medical care he provided both Herminia and Gustavo for almost 30 years. Thank you to Cuidado Casero Home Health for providing their services and of course our church family at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Herminia nació en Mendoza, Texas, el 23 de agosto de 1924, hija de Pablo Cruz y Salomé Ruiz. Se casó con Gustavo Gutiérrez Rodríguez (quien la precedió en la muerte) el 17 de agosto 1946. Tuvieron 5 hijos: Marta, Mario, Roberto, Gustavo y Herminia. Murió pacíficamente mientras dormía en la madrugada del 18 de junio de 2019.
Herminia estaba dedicada a su familia. Ella era una madre amorosa, hija, hermana, tía, abuela, bisabuela y amiga. Como feligrés durante mucho tiempo de la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón, fue muy amada. Le gustaba cocinar, hornear, coser, tejer, dibujar y cuidar su hogar y familia.
Herminia siempre fue un pilar de fortaleza y sabiduría para su familia. A lo largo de los años, muchos acudieron a ella para pedirle consejos, oraciones y apoyo. Ella siempre tuvo una palabra amable, pero siempre te dijo la verdad. Honestidad, humildad y resiliencia son varias palabras que su familia usaría para describirla. Ella era una defensora de la educación superior y se aseguró de que cada uno de sus hijos recibiera una educación adecuada para seguir sus carreras elegidas.
Le precedieron en la muerte su madre y su padre, Salomé y Pablo, así como sus hermanas y hermanos: Severo, Pablo, María de los Ángeles (Gela) y Alicia (Licha), y su nieta Lindsay. Le sobreviven su hermana Teresa (Tere), sus hijas e hijos: Marta, Mario, Roberto, Gustavo y Herminia, sus nietos: Isaías, Mirthala, Benjamín, Gustavo, Yeshua, Karina, Diana, Roberto, Marcelo, Eugenio, Gustavo, Larry Giovanni, Loren Dominic, Leslee Brandon, Lonnie Justin, Brenda, Carla, Nadya Salome, David James y muchos bisnietos.
