

Homero was born July 17, 1934, in Presidio, Texas, to Filomeno and Nicomedes Acosta. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Hernandez on May 25,1958, and remained a devoted husband throughout their long marriage. His legacy lives on in his children; son Homero Jr., (Melissa Urquidi) and grandchildren Victoria, Amanda and Jacob of El Paso, Texas; daughter Esther (Mick Bull) and grandson Matthew of Austin, Texas; daughter Diana (Carlos Salazar) and grandchildren Carlos III and Mia of San Antonio, Texas.
Surviving siblings are sister Gloria Ramirez (Joe) of Amarillo, Texas, and brother Oscar Acosta (Elvira) of San Antonio, Texas.
Homero was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; sisters Frances Soza, Dora Weber; and brothers Hector Acosta and Humberto Acosta.
Homero had a love for sports, especially Yankees baseball and the Texas Longhorns. He was involved in his parish, St. Paul's Church and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Society.
The family would like to thank Texas Oncology, Hospice Austin and everyone who sent love and prayers during his illness.
A Rosary will be held in Homero’s Memory at 12:00 P.M, Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church at 10000 David Moore Dr., Austin, Texas 78748. Interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas, is planned at a later date.
