Howard Scott Estes passed away Tuesday at Seton Hospital. Scott was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on December 8th 1958. He is survived by his wife Suzanne, children Elizabeth and Andrew, his parents Howard and Mary S. Estes, his sister Patricia Estes Booth and her husband Dan, nephews Patrick and his wife Stephanie and James and his wife Christine and many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. He was a loving father, husband and son who will be missed by all who knew him. Scott was a story teller at heart and loved to share his experiences and vast knowledge of nearly every subject with others. His unique life's tales included such stories as "life with a pet Elephant: and "Why you shouldn't carry around 52 kazoos". He spent his early childhood living with his family in Thailand, which greatly influenced his nature and his tremendous appreciation for eastern culture and for adventure. Scott was always learning and teaching, his favorite television show of all time was The Woodwright Shop. His children will always remember the tremendous time he spent teaching them how to do so many different things and instilling the spirit that anything is possible. He was a born engineer who had an absolute passion for cars. He proudly held more than a dozen patents and was Dell Inventor of the year. After a successful career he enjoyed the opportunity to use his true entrepreneurial spirit founding and owning Violins Etc. He loved the ocean, and reveled in sharing that love with his children, scuba diving with them in the Florida Keys was a great joy. He believed that adventure and creativity were as necessary to life as motivation and determination. He believed in judging people by their intentions alone and often gave of himself to help others reach their goals. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel with Rev. William C. (Bill) Estes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Scott's name to Kiva Microfunds Foundation, 3180 18th St., Suite 201, San Francisco, CA 94110.
