Hubert Wesley Cook was born on November 22, 1946. Mr. Cook gained his angel wings and flew home on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

He passed away unexpectedly, doing what he loved during a Masonic meeting at Wimberley Masonic Lodge #1445 A.F. & A.M. Hubert was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and served honorably aboard the USS Oriskany in the United States Navy. He wore that badge proudly but not without sacrifice. He belonged to and dedicated much of his time to the San Marcos VFW Post #3413. Hubert was also a proud and dedicated 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He dedicated 40 plus years to Masonry and was a Master Mason and member of the Ben Hur Shrine. Mr. Cook was truly a man with a very giving heart.

Hubert is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy Faye Cook; daughters, Virgie Mucha and Laura Davis and husband, Bill; son, Steven Cook and wife, Lynn; 8 amazing grandchildren, Joshua, Robbie, Matthew, Will and wife, Stephanie, Zach, Lyndsi and husband, Michael, Savannah and husband, Jake, and Kyle; 4 great-grandchildren, Addie, Jaidyn, Rowan, and Orrin; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, March 15, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 16, 2019 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home officiated by Brother Johnny Hudson and the Wimberley Masonic Lodge #1445. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park with Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Navy.

Honoring Hubert as pallbearers will be Kyle Cook, Mark Cook, Daniel Moran, Zach Davis, Will Davis, Bill Davis, Will Wilkin, and Steven Cook.

Hubert Wesley Cook gave his all to everyone and everything he loved. He is loved by many and will be missed greatly by all those who loved him and were blessed to be a part of his time here on Earth.

For those desiring, contributions may be made in Hubert’s memory to Ben Hur Shrine or Scottish Rite in Austin.

Hubert will be missed so much by the Smithhart research group. He was always willing to share information and help other researchers to connect to others in the family. He contributed his DNA in an effort to isolate and confirm the different branches of the Smithhart lineage.
My deepest sympathies to his family and others who knew him.
Marilyn Smith a Smithhart of Mississippi Granddaughter
