Hugo Felix Meurer, 93, passed away on January 13, 2016. He leaves his wife of 71 years, Susie (Klein) Meurer; his son, Charles Meurer; his daughter, AnnMarie Clattenburg; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Douglas; five brothers, Otto, Alex, John, Carl, Norbert and two sisters, Elsie and Nora.
He was born April 23, 1922 in Fredericksburg, TX to Charles and Meta (Tatsch) Meurer. As a World War II veteran, Hugo took part in the Sicily invasion, serving on the USS Maddox and in the Normandy invasion, serving on the USS Nelson. Hugo retired after 29 years with the State Board of Insurance and spent many years traveling with his wife Susie.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17 at 6PM with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on South Congress. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18 at 10AM at Saint Ignatius Church on Euclid Avenue followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery and a reception at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
