Nash was my barber for about a year, until late last year.  He gave my late wife Marian Leitnerschmidt her first job (at Combs & Shears) out of barber school in the late 70s.  She always spoke highly of Nash and after I met him I understood why.    My condolences.



I haven't written anything that I feel because words -he would laugh if I said that -cannot possibly explain how I feel about this loss for, selfishly me but especially for Nacho's = my Nashville's family.  We found each other through a plan that was not our own.  I doubted him at first and said why would you come from way south to work in north Austin???  He said give me 2 weeks.  We laughed and talked about our families every day and I always said it's been one heck of a two weeks.  I'll tell you more in person.  We both said we were born in a different time.  Garage sales were more our style than computers.    Rest .  You gave him the kind of send-off that you can be assured he would never ask for but wanted it for all of his sweet family and friends.  I personally will be driving less than 10 from my house to talk to him and spend some time by the lake.      He would be proud of me because we old fashioned barbers just don't do the computer thing.  I sent a love note to Ida's with Taylor's and Jackson's pictures.  They loved him and knew he loved them.



What a blessing it has been for us to share  the past 2 years with the delightful Gonzales family.  To know Nash was to love him -- and we will miss this quiet, gentle, man with a giant heart. Kindness was never an effort for him, it flowed naturally from his giving heart.  We all say the same things about him, his kindness and his love for his family, evidences that the love of Jesus guided his gentle spirit.  Each one of you is so unique and reflects your own version of his wonderful traits, as well as those of your exemplary mother.  The angels of heaven are surely rejoicing to welcome Nash as he brings the gift of himself to share with all of heaven. God bless and comfort each of you according to your own special need. There are no words that can express our feelings on your loss, we loved your dad very much and we wanted so much for him to get well and get to spend more time with all of you and his grandchildren he has left behind including his grandchildren to come. But God had other plans for Nacho he wanted him to come on home and be with him and everyone that has gone before him, including his grandchildren that by now he is holding in his arms, and rejoicing, always remember that he loved all of you very much. And he will be waiting for the day that all of you will be together again. And I know that he has seen all of ours and well as his loved ones in heaven and having a joyeous reunion.  May God be with all of you and take care of you.



What an incredible life your husband and father must have lived to be surrounded by so many loved ones.  It was obvious to all that he and his wife were still very much in love.  It was equally obvious that he loved each of his children and had very close relationships with them all.    I  only met him a few times but heard so much about his character and spiritual life from Ida.  His qualities, so like Nash, were apparent immediately.  He had a good sense of humor and a quick smile.  During his last few months on earth, he fought hard, kept his humor and most importantly, held fast to his faith in Christ.  What a blessed life he lived and shared.

On behalf of the Torres and Rodriguez family we send our condolences. Nash will always be in our hearts. It is an honor for me to be on Nashs' mind when it came to music. I enjoyed watching Nash and Olga dance which made me very proud. He showed great respect towards our family when my Father and Grandfather passed away. I will always remember the times that I had with the entire family which taught me about being a family. Nash, you raised a successful family and married a wonderful wife, which I would tell everybody was my second mom. God bless all of you. Nash will always be remebered in our family as an Honorable man.



Alice and I first met Nash and Olga when Steve and Dina married.  It was very apparent that Steve was gaining a very loving and caring family.  Nash and Olga raised very successful children who are very close and caring with each other.  We are so proud to have Dina as a part of our family.  We feel as if we are your extended family because of your openess and reception of us.  It is wonderful to know that we will one day be reunited with Nash again. We have been so bleesed by having Dina join our family.  Dina speaks very often of her family of origin. While we have had limited time with each of you, it is very obvious that you are a family that loves and cares deeply for each other.  My brother Steve often spoke of Mr. Gonzales and how he was a man of true integrity.  Your children speak volumes as to the character of you both. I never had the pleasure to meet Mr. Nash Gonzales but I am friends with his son Nash.  I pray that God my comfort you all in this difficult time.



I worked with Nash at combs and shears in the late 70's.He will always have a special place in my heart. I had sent him a card but do not know if he received it. I spoke with Ben at a garage sale and he was keeping me informed on how he was doing. My prayers are with all of his family members. Olga lovingly took care of my son Tim Sellars from about 6 weeks until he began elementary school.  The Gonzales's are like family to us.  I will never be able to repay them for the love they gave him as he was growing up.  He was made to feel so special.  Big Nash was always kind and gentle.  He loved his family so much.  He had so much to be proud of.   What wonderful adults they have all become. Olga, Nash, Ida, Dina and Elsa....please know that you are in my prayers.  God will give you the comfort you need in the days ahead.  You were so blessed to have him as your husband and father.



I only met Mr. Gonzales once, very briefly, but I know his daughter. He must have been a wonderful man because he raised a wonderful family. He has left behind a legacy with which God will be pleased.



I met Nash when I worked at Crestview for a short while.  I was priveleged to witness his great love and pride in his family.  Nash treated everyone with the deepest respect.  What an honor to have known such a happy and accomplished man.  My deepest sympathies to you all.



We will always cherish Nash's warm personality and friendly smile.  It was a pleasure to meet him at Nash Jr.'s wedding and witness the love and happiness of his family.



I loved my uncle very much.  My childhood is bursting with joyful memories of him and the times spent with the Gonzales family.  I remember so vividly, at 5, driving, while sitting on Dina's lap, the family car.  I, of course, couldn't steer well and hit the side of the garage.  Uncle Nacho just laughed-enjoying my joy.  He never tried to stop my fun and didn't worry that I had slightly damaged a valuable possession, it was all in good fun.  To me, it's meaningful memories such as these that truly convey the giving, compassionate, understanding, and peaceful nature of this incredible man.  He will be missed by us all.



Nash was a kind and gentle soul. My condolences and heartfelt sorrow for his family. I will miss his stories and optimism ..They broke the mold when they made this man



I was a customer of Nash's for several years and always enjoyed my visits with him tremendously.  I have never known anyone more proud and loving of his family.  He took such pride and joy in every one of them.  It was a warm and joyful experience to talk with him.  He was a very special man.



My condolences to the Gonzalez Family. May you all be strong during this time. Our prayers are with you ALL!!!! It has been some time ago since we saw each other and reflect back on the times that we have seen one another. Remember the memories of your Dad and the strength will come. Uncle Nacho was like an older brother to me during my childhood.  He was always full of energy and active.    As a boy growing up in Lampasas, he broke his leg jumping or falling off a railrway car where he wasn't supposed to be playing.  Although his leg never healed properly, he still became a great baseball player, playing short stop and second base.  He didn't much like work on farms and ranches so he took up his father's part time profession as a barber for a career.    Nacho was always ready to help his family.  In 1966 I lived with him, Olga and Ben, Jr. and Geneva when both couples were still newly wed.  When I was short of cash, which was often, he would refuse payment for an always great haircut.  I'll never forget his humor, generosity, and love of life.  He always said and believed, "I'm the luckiest guy in the world because of my wife and kids".  We will all miss him.
