Isa Hitchcock Tiemann, born September 28, 1912, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2003, after a brief illness. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Isa is survived by her two sons, Thomas of Austin/Fredericksburg and Robert of San Antonio, daughters-in-law Nancy and Annabelle, grandchildren Kendrick, Melanie, Christie, John, Michael, Mark, Paul and Kathleen and her brother, Tom. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, sister, Adele and brother, Edward. Isa came with her family from Davey, Texas by covered wagon to Austin in 1921, when such transportation was more common than the automobile. She delighted in recounting the many stories of the colorful travelers she met and the adventures she had at her father's wagon yard on Congress Avenue. Isa married Eugene Tiemann in 1932 and they moved into their new home on Bridle Path in west Austin when the neighborhood was a small dirt road subdivision. Isa and Eugene worked tirelessly, sometimes holding down two jobs during the depression and while raising their children. Residents of west Austin will best remember Isa from Tarrytown Pharmacy where she worked for 47 years. A service in celebration of Isa's long life will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at 10 am at the Tarrytown United Methodist Church chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations in Isa's name to Tarrytown United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas 78705 (512) 452-8811. You may view memorials online at www.wcfish.com
