My Uncle Isabel was someone I looked up to.  I visited him awhile back and asked him about his time in the Marine Corps. 
A soft spoken man, my uncle flipped like a switch and stood up straight and held his chest out like a barrel chested Eagle.  He started telling me how ruff and tough it was and told me other stories about his time in the Marines.  
When I saw him there I thought to myself, it's true what they say..."Once a Marine Always a Marine".  Although I didn't see him as much as I would have liked to, I was glad to know he was my Uncle Isabel.  
I will miss you and hope to see you in my dreams...

Mr. Fabian and I met through an acquaintance at a part stores. . After dialing his number and short a conversation, I was over at his house within minutes. We shook hands upon meeting. Little did I know that hand shake would build a lifelong friendship.  On cold or rainy days, we would sit inside and enjoy a cup of coffee. Coffee without donuts was boring. On Texas hot summer days, we would sit outside on his porch and tell stories. Our friendship grew as I helped him work on vehicles on my free time. He would help me with maintenance and I would help him. I learned so much from Mr. Fabian. He was always serious when working on a vehicle. He was always safety first. We had our small cuts and bruises, but we never had a major incident. One day we had a huge laugh. Mr. Fabian was painting an engine before installation. He wanted it to look great. The black paint really stood out. After a break, he picks up a new paint spray can and shakes it. The can rattled ready to be used. I see him lean close to the engine and look carefully where he wanted to spray. Leaning in close, he gave that spray can a solid press with his finger. The fresh can spray aerosol with a huge burst. As I watched, I see him suddenly jump back with a look I’ll never forget. He had the spray button pointed at himself. The paint sprayed a good size streak on his cheek. He looked at me like, “I hope he didn’t see what just happened”. I looked shocked. After a second, he started to laugh. So did I. He said in all his years of work, he had never painted himself. We enjoyed the moment and talked about it at times we knew not to make a mistake. Mr. Fabian had great stories to tell. I was fascinated hearing how he remembered Model T cars driving around. He was fascinated when I would tell him new cars run only on batteries, or both batteries and engines. I was his hand me that “tool guy”.  We talked and told while we worked. As Veterans, we had our military stories to tell.  Semper Fi!!

Grandpa.....our eyes are full with tears and hearts are broken. GOD saw you getting tired, your hard working hands at rest. God put his arms around you and whispered come to me. Please look out for all of us and

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Fabian family. Isabel was a great man and I pray that he rises on the last day and God gives him eternal peaceful rest.
