James W. Fletcher, Jr., native Austinite, born June 26, 1924, passed away at the age of 88 on May 17, 2013. J.W. was a long time member of the First Baptist Church where he was soloist, served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1943 to 1946, and graduated from the University of Texas in 1950 with a degree in Fine Arts.
His favorite pastimes included painting and listening to classical music. He had a kind spirit, a good heart, and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
J.W. is survived by his sister, Nell Fletcher Broadbent; nephews, Harold Broadbent, David Broadbent; and niece, Carolyn Bogan.
He will lie in state from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Oakwood Annex Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Our House of Central Texas, especially Nancy Luongo, for their loving care for the pass almost nine years.
