

Jack was the oldest child of John E. Shelton, and Katherine Cavett Shelton of Austin, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Campbell Shelton; his brother Dan R. Shelton and wife Barbara of Rockport; Sister Gayle Shelton Miller and husband Kleber of Ft. Worth; his grandson John C. Shelton and wife Tisha of Three Forks, Montana.
Virginia and Jack married on April 4th 1942. These were the happiest in the world for Jack, and he loved every minute of his time with his ‘Lucy’. He served as president of Kiwanis Club of Austin and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon UT/Austin Chapter. He spent his long career as an Insurance Examiner.
Before he passed, Jack said, “I want to thank my niece Angie and her husband Matt Johnson of San Marcos for their loving assistance, and for caring for us and for our family dog, ‘Cheech’ for all these years. And thank you to our niece Laurie Campbell. Special thanks to cousins Kathy and Jerry Clayton of Austin for their wonderful friendship.”
Jack is preceded in death by his son, “Jay” Jack C. Shelton, Jr., and his wife Margaret Coats Shelton, formerly of Austin. All were loved by many and live on in our hearts.

The family will receive visitors from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M., Friday, August 29, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. ., Friday, August 29, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Chapel. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
