James M. Cleckler (Jamie) passed away peacefully on September 25, 2018 surrounded by family. His wife, Sieglinde Cleckler, preceded him in death. Jamie was the oldest of 3 sons and is survived by his two brothers, Grady Cleckler (Elaine) from Littleton, Colorado and Gerald Cleckler (Kim) from Pflugerville, Texas. Jamie is also survived by his daughter, Christina Renee Davis (John) from Round Rock, Texas. He has 4 grandchildren, Chelsea, Alex, Maddie and Hunter also from Round Rock. He is also survived by a great grandson, Dallas (Chelsea). Jamie is also survived by aunts and uncles- Gerald Madden (Mary Ann), Mike Madden, Jay Madden, Phyllis Russell (David) and David Madden (Jill). Jamie loved his family which also included dozens of cousins and countless friends.
Jamie was born on January 23rd, 1956 to James W. Cleckler (Cornbread) and Jeanne Madden Cleckler (Coach) in Weslaco, Texas. They preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Weslaco High School in 1975 and was a proud member of the fighting Weslaco Panther football team. He excelled at all levels and variety of sports to include football, baseball, basketball and track. His love of the outdoors included bird and deer hunting growing up in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He attended the University of Texas from 1976 to 1978 and was a member of the Texas Longhorn football team. Jamie was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Weslaco.
After completing his education, Jamie worked at the Adesa Auto Auction in Austin as the general manager. Despite the demands of his profession, Jamie always made time for his family and friends. Although christened James, he was known by his family and friends as Jamie, Pooh Bear, Pooh and Sasquatch by us UT teammates. Physically, Jamie was a very large man who possessed an equally large heart. His love and kindness for others was a constant throughout his life. The people that he touched and helped will forever be remembered and appreciated.
Services will be held at Cook Walden/Forest Oaks on Friday, September 28th. Visitation will commence at 11:00 am for viewing and storytelling. Services will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel followed by an onsite graveside service shortly thereafter.
