James Jim R. Cook Long time Austin, Texas, resident, James "Jim" R. Cook passed away Sunday, June 24 2007 after a long illness in Austin, Texas at the age of 87. He was a native of Inverness, Mississippi but had resided in Austin since 1978. He was retired from the private sector, a Captain in the Army during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star while in Europe and retired a Lt Colonel. He received his undergraduate degree from Texas A & I University Kingsville and his masters from Iowa State. He was preceded in death by his Wife Ruth B. Cook: His Parents Leona and Russell J. Cook; two brothers, E. Jack Cook and William A. Cook. He is survived by two sons, Russell M. Cook of Austin Texas and Michael E. Cook of Knightdale, North Carolina, one Brother Charles I. Cook of El Paso Texas; Grand Children include Miranda Cook, Michael R Cook, Michael Cook, Jr., Danielle Cook and a great-grandson William Pickron. A private Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am June 30th at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
