He graduated from Austin High School in 1954 and at this time served 8 years in the US Naval Reserve. Jim worked in the automotive field for Lindsay Auto Electric, Andy's Auto Electric, Cheshire Automotive before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancel and Edna Dieterich; brother, Wilbur Dieterich; sisters, Jewel Bailey, Mildred Cornett and Florence Joch.
Jim is survived by his wife, of 62 years 11 months, Shirley; two sons, Jimmy Dieterich wife Debbie, David Dieterich wife Diane; three grandchildren, Sharye Morris, Noel Lake Dieterich, Tony Dieterich; one great-granddaughter, Inara Alyce Morris; one sister, Dorothy Nell Henshaw; two brothers, Jerry Dieterich wife Jeannie, and Gene Dieterich wife Fran; several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress.
Funeral Service 11:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel.
Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
