February 6, 1973 – March 9, 2015
On February 6th, 1973 a gift was given to us when God breathed life into "Jamie" James Allen Estepp. He was the beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. James Arnold Estepp and grandson of Hazel Rowell. Jamie's life was tragically shortened by Chiari disease.
Jamie graduated from Hyde Park Baptist School and then earned two business degrees from Concordia University. While a student at Hyde Park he assisted in numerous fundraising events and was involved with the backstage production of plays and musicals. Jamie was well loved by faculty, staff, and friends. Jamie was well known for the fact he wore shorts every day to school even during the coldest times of the year.
After graduating Jamie discovered his passion for decorating and jewelry design. Jamie soon opened up his own business decorating Christmas trees and houses. This passion shaped his life and allowed him to do what he loved. Jamie was always focused on the customer and delivering amazing Christmas memories.
While pursuing his own decorating business Jamie landed a job at the IRS where he served in several departments and received several promotions during his tenure. Jamie received numerous awards at work for outstanding performance. Jamie was instrumental in his department and loved to train and develop his employees. Jamie got great satisfaction out of being able to solve any problem.
Jamie was able to make many friends and along with his mother Marilyn, mentored many people. Through their mentoring, people came to hear the message of Jesus. Jamie and Marilyn selflessly opened up their home and finances to all who needed help. Most important they opened people's eyes to Jesus and prayed with them that they may know Him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Craig DuBois and staff, along with Dr. Robert Buchanan and staff for their dedicated and deeply compassionate care during his complex and complicated illness
Jamie is survived by his parents James and Marilyn Estepp along with his brother Michael and wife Deanna. Jamie loved his two nephews deeply, Boyd and Grayson Estepp. Jamie is also survived by uncle Allen Rowell, Jr., grandmother Hazel Rowell, aunt and uncle Joyce and Larry Watson and cousin Gina DePugh and her daughter Paige Watson.
Jamie is with the lord and is at peace. He was loved by many and his spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Both the visitation and funeral service for Jamie will be held in Austin, Texas at Weed-Corley-Fish located at 3125 North Lamar Boulevard in Austin. Visitation will be Friday March 13th from 5pm-7pm followed by the funeral Saturday at 2pm. The funeral will be conducted by Reverend Charles W. Hyde. Jamie will be laid to rest at Austin Memorial Park.
If there were words to describe the love you gave you would have to look to heaven!
