James Martin Hansen was born on January 18, 1943, and lost his battle to diabetes and kidney disease on April 19, 2014. Jim was born in Le Mars, Iowa, to Joseph and Judith Hansen and was the eldest of 8 siblings (JoAnn, Ed, Walt, Carol, Robert, Shirley and Debbie).
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, playing games and teaching the Word of God. Jim was a gifted large machinery mechanic working for various organizations including John Deere, Texas A&M University and the Salvation Army.
After retirement Jim spent much of his time volunteering for the Salvation Army and was always lending a helping hand to a friend or stranger.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Hammer and Holly Rodriguez; four grandchildren (Paige, Brooke, Madison and Cassandra), and predeceased by one son, Jacob Hansen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin, Texas.
