James M. Ragland, age 72, passed away at his home in San Marcos, Texas on February 20, 2008. He was born in Gilmer, Texas to Dr. Madison and Elizabeth Marshall Ragland. He graduated from Gilmer High School and received his B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1957, where he was a member of the APO fraternity. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to Baylor to earn at Master's Degree in Theater Arts in 1962. He taught theater and communications at the University of Corpus Christi and then at the University of New Orleans until his retirement. He was a deacon and an active member of the University Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Coats Ragland and is survived by two sons, Barclay and Madison, wife Melissa and granddaughter, Grace of Portland Oregon; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Ann and Bill Patterson of Gilmer, Sarah and Jere Jackson of Nacogdoches and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
