

James Alvin Spradling, 68, passed away suddenly on June 5th at his favorite place, his home on Lake Limestone. He was born on October 3, 1938 to Albert and Marie Spradling in Crystal City, Texas. James graduated from Crystal City High School in 1957 and then joined the Air Force in 1959. After four years, he moved to Austin. During his job career he worked for Glastron, Texas Instruments and retired from Wag-A-Bag convenience stores. James loved fishing, gardening, reading and bowling. He bowled with his friends Harvey, Irene, Loretta, Tilley, Phil and Gay Rae for 30 years. His very favorite place was his lake house on Lake Limestone. He spent many hours doing yard work, fishing and just relaxing watching all the boats and jet skis go by. James was preceded in death by his mother, Marie; his father, Albert James; his stepfather, Chester Arthur; and his younger brother, Jerry. James is survived by his wife, Cherri; his daughters, Trish Sierer and husband Brian and Kristi Carmody and husband John; his stepson, Chris Purcell; his stepdaughters, Karen Purcell and Marianne Bush and husband Haydn; his sister Betty Hughes; brother-in-law Allen Brook and wife Mary; and his seven granddaughters who will greatly miss their PawPaw. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
