Jane Elizabeth Abbott was born June 24, 1945, to Major General Gordon Fisk Blood and Alice Tydings Blood in San Francisco, California. She grew up alongside her younger sister, Nancy, and, as an Air Force family, lived in numerous states and several overseas countries. She attended the University of Maryland in Munich, Germany, while the family was stationed there.
She gave birth to her daughter, Alee Abbott, in Sacramento, California. Janie loved nothing more than being a mother to Alee; coaching kickball, supporting her school activities, and raising her to be a strong, independent, and successful woman.
Janie was a long-standing and hardworking employee at Austin Radiological Association (ARA), where she held an HR position for 32 years before her retirement.
Janie was blessed with two granddaughters, Kyan and Sage Watkins, whom she enjoyed being an active and involved "Ma" in their daily lives.
Janie had a talent for caretaking, organizing, and encouraging, and her selfless nature did not go unnoticed by the many lives she touched.
She was also a devoted pet lover, rescuing multiple dogs throughout her time in Austin.
She leaves behind her Austin family: daughter, Alee Abbott; granddaughters, Kyan Watkins and Sage Watkins; her sister, Nancy Bennett; and her niece, Andrea Rosenzweig, both of whom reside in Bend, Oregon.
Janie passed peacefully at Hospice of Austin Christopher House on August 2nd, 2025.
