Hello! My name is Rhiannon, and I'm creating this gofundme for my aunt and her immediate family in the wake of her death. As you probably know, some expenses still exist even after we move on from this world. We hope to fulfill Janet's final wishes, and by making this gofundme we aim to ease the financial burdens of memorial costs.
Janet Jenkins was born on February 9th, 1958 in Maine shortly before her family arrived in Austin the same year. Born to Betty Jane and Robert Martin Jenkins, her family grew to consist of 3 sisters and 2 brothers in total.
Throughout her life, Janet became a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a great-grandmother, and a friend. She was, and is, loved by many. She was kind, artistic, and smart. She played the baritone in her high school band, she enjoyed supporting her family, and she could make a beautiful quilt. She was part of QOV (Quilts of Valor) in which she spent her time making quilts for Veterans touched by war. A lot of us have a quilt in our own homes that she made and gifted to us.
Janet passed away on February 5th of this year, just 4 days before her 65th birthday. She had stage 4 melanoma that metastasized to her lungs. While there is no joy in losing her, there is some peace in knowing she was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.
Janet is survived by 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. She lives on in our hearts, memories, and stories. Thank you for taking the time to read and thank you in advance for however you contribute.
