

Janet Lee Young, 84, died January 22, 2018 in Elgin. She was born July 18, 1933 in Sebeka, Minnesota to Arvid and Olga Swanson Bengtson. She was one of five siblings. She attended Anoka High School in Minnesota and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She gave birth to four children and raised them with her first husband George Warren.
Janet married John Young in Anoka, Minnesota on her birthday in 1982. He lovingly tended to her in her final years as she struggled with dementia. She worked for many years in a property tax consulting firm James A. Hall and Associates in Houston. This was followed by a long stint as a successful tax collector with Heard, Goggan, Linebarger and Blair. Janet also was an ordained evangelical minister, often holding services at nursing homes in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Carlton Bengtson of Aurora, Colorado; Shirley Bengtson of St. Paul, Minnesota and Nola Studder of Bemidji, Minnesota.
She is survived by her husband John Young of Manor; her sister Judy Cross of Cedar Park; son George William Warren (Diana) of Sugar Land; daughter Janet Michelle Woodrome (James) of Georgetown; daughter Ann Louise Warren of Sugar Land; and daughter Suzanne Elaine Warren of Manor. She is also survived by grandchildren Stephen Clifton (Jenny); Brent Galloway (Jackie); Bill Warren (Zulema); Ashley Warren; Julia Warren; Laura Woodcock (John); Jackie Andrews (Ian); Matthew Pineda; Daniel Lewis; Angela Woodrome; and Catherine Lewis. She also is survived by 11 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the devoted staff of the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Asera Care Hospice for their loving kindness to her.
Janet’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
