After graduating from Central High, she attended beauty school, then made her home in Austin. For many years, Jan worked both as a stylist and as a manager of several local businesses. Jan had a passion for animals, playing games with friends, watching her husband race cars, attending her daughter’s softball games and outdoor activities – especially fishing. Jan’s greatest pride and joy in life was her daughter Shelly.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Charlie; her daughter and best friend, Shelly Loyd; and her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Mac West.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff of St. David’s South Austin Hospital for their skilled and compassionate care, with a special thanks to Dr. Eric Hoenicke and his assistant Tracy for their guidance and understanding during a most difficult time.
