

Janie “Jane” Smith Bloor, a longtime resident of Austin, passed away on December 16, 2020 in Abilene, Texas. Born on November 11, 1927 to Justin Conant Smith, Jr. and Ida Mae Payne Smith, Jane grew up in the small town of League City. She was valedictorian of her high school class and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin.
Jane married Bertram Hathaway Bloor, Jr. on November 13, 1948 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. After working and raising their family in Fort Worth, Jane and Bert returned to Austin, where they lived for more than 40 years. Jane was very active in many Austin organizations, and she and Bert spent many years as world travelers, going on adventures in Europe, Africa, and South America, including a cruise down the Amazon. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed gardening and birds. Jane also loved working at the ranch with Bert in their retirement years.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Bobbie. She is survived by her two daughters Cynthia Kennickell and Martha Smith; five granddaughters, Virginia (Jason), Sandra (Coby), Judith, Gloria, and Elizabeth; and four great-granddaughters, Hailey, Taylor, Natalie, and Lauren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who is loved and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service was held for the immediate family at Oakwood Annex Cemetery.
