Javad Bijan Kabiri was born in Tehran, Iran, to Hajar Pahlevani Sanders and Bijan Kabiri on January 19, 1977. Javad, his brother, Morad, and their mother immigrated to Houston, Texas in March, 1985, after the death of their father.
Javad attended the Michael DeBakey High School for Health Professions in Houston. Around the same time, he met the love of his life, his wife Caroline. He went on to attend the University of Houston where he obtained a Management in Information Science Bachelors degree in 2001. While going to college, Javad worked full time as a Cisco Certified Instructor at Houston Community College, putting himself through school with relentless drive and ambition.
More than anything, Javad was a devoted family man, husband, friend and leader. The greatest joy in his life was spending time with his children. With Addison, his joy has been to watch her grow into a talented theater performer with great promise. His loving son, James, brought him joy through his dedication to sports, including football and basketball. The angelic voice of his daughter, Alyssa, was one of his true pleasures in life. Each of his children has flourished into an amazing young person due in large part to his love and affection for them. They were, and will always be, the answer to his greatest prayers.
Caroline and Javad were high school sweethearts. Over the course of their lives, they developed a love that will last throughout eternity. The two were inseparable and relentlessly focused on their family values – love for the people around them, dedication to their children, and their work. They moved from Houston to San Antonio to Austin, touching lives and building friendships along the way. Javad and his brother Morad lost their father early in their lives, and more recently their mother. These trials, and the joys of brotherhood, have forged a brotherly bond that also will last through eternity.
As a leader, Javad had a special way of caring for the people around him. He would make you feel like you were the only person in the universe, and that he would do anything in his power to care for you. And he did just that for people. When decisions were difficult, he would always do the right thing, regardless of the cost. He was an amazing leader, first, at Schlumberger in network security in Houston, and then, at Rackspace in San Antonio, where he spent 11 years in a variety of roles culminating in his role as Vice President, leading hundreds of Rackers in their commitment to their customers through “Fanatical Support”. Javad was successful in business because he embodied the concept of Fanatical Support in his relationships with others by putting them first. He was truly a servant leader and deeply cared for his teams at Rackspace. Javad is one of those few Rackers that have been recognized with the “Fanatical Jacket”, the highest honor a Racker could achieve - voted upon by his fellow colleagues and only awarded to those who upheld and demonstrated the core values of Rackspace and what it means to be a Racker.
After Rackspace, Javad continued to help companies grow through a fanatical commitment to the people around him. He was COO at a young Austin company, Bankers Toolbox, and at ClearDATA, one of Austin’s fastest growing companies. ClearDATA is no doubt poised for remarkable success in the coming years, due at least in part to Javad’s contributions as their COO. Darin Brannan and the Cleardata Board have been generous and committed to Javad’s family throughout Javad’s health complications.
Javad is survived by his wife, Caroline, and his children Addison, James, and Alyssa; his brother, Morad Kabiri and wife, Laura, and their children, Nathan and Seth; his stepfather, Monty Sanders; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sherry and Jim Kitchell and his brother-in-law, Ricky Kitchell; his uncle, Cyrus Kabiri and wife, Mehri, his cousin, Mitra and husband, Todd Frank, and their son, Sebastien, and his cousin, Nika Kabiri.
The family is incredibly grateful for the amazing care of the physicians, nurses and medical staff on Javad’s health team from St. David’s South, especially the CVRU and IMC floors. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in memory of Javad, the family suggests The Brookwood Community, the Lupus Foundation, Wonders and Worries, or a charity of your choice.
