Jeanie left us Saturday night to be at peace in the arms of Jesus. Her battle with cancer is over. She fought hard every step of the way. We thought she had it beaten and the sudden, dramatic turnaround came as a shock to all.
Her last few days were both traumatic and amazing…traumatic because of the final stages of this evil disease, but amazing in terms of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from the continuous procession of family and friends that visited, called and texted. Thanks to all who voiced their love to lift up this wonderful lady that touched their life.
A special thanks goes out to the caregivers on the 7th Floor Oncology unit at Seton Main and the Christopher House hospice facility. This was the most incredible four days of inpatient care we could have hoped for. Y’all are not quite God’s arms, but you were close. A heartfelt thanks goes out from Jeanie’s family.
Jean Sandra (Holm) Anderson was born and raised in Ottawa, Illinois. She moved to the Minneapolis area in 1972 where she met and married husband Keith in 1974. The next stop was Overland Park, Kansas for 20 years before moving to Austin in 1998.
Jeanie worked from time to time, but her real calling was being an incredible Mom not only to her family, but also to people in her community. So many referred to her as their “second Mom” or “second Grandma”. She loved family, friends and neighbors and was always eager to reach out to others, especially if they were in need but often just to get to know them. She was a natural giver.
Jeanie is survived by Keith, her husband of 42 years, daughter, Lori Anderson Piening and son, Bryan Anderson. Lori lives in Austin with her husband Mark and grandsons Zach and Chase. Son Bryan also lives in Austin and was by her side at the time of death. Other family includes nephew Tom Nutt, his wife Sigrid and their children, Austin and Kyle.
Jeanie’s life as a Wife, Mother, Grammy and friend was a gift to us all. Thank you God. You’ve got her now. Take care of her ‘til we get there and by the way…she’s not as ornery as she thinks.
in lieu of sending flowers, send donations made in Mom's name to Christopher House.
