She was born October 4, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas and the family ultimately settled in Dallas. She met her husband Mack Breedlove in Dallas and they established their home in Austin after wedding in 1967. She established herself with ease in her roles as a Wife, Mother, active church congregant, hands-on philanthropist, and friend to many. However she arguably most valued her role as an Oma.
In the younger years of family life, Jeanette, Mack, Mark, and their family and friends enjoyed summers in Port Aransas, weekends at ‘the ranch’, and countless school and sporting events. After losing her husband of 46 years in 2013, Jeanette continued to embrace life enjoying travels, close friendships, countless volunteer hours in her community and church, and especially her time with her grandkids.
Predeceased by her parents, Norbert and Eleanor Mayer, and husband Mack, she is survived and will be missed by son Mark; daughter-in-law Rachel; three ‘perfect’ grandchildren, Andrew, Paige, and Laine; brother Jim and sister-in-law Mary; and nephews Brian and Jared and their families. Jeanette is also survived by many friends in Austin and across the country, having truly never met a stranger.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests you consider donating to Operation School Bell or Assistance League Austin with which she remained an active volunteer into her final days.
Visitation and Rosary will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, January 24 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home on 6100 North Lamar, Austin, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 25 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, with Jeanette’s friend Father Larry Covington officiating.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com for the Breedlove family.
