Jeanne Elizabeth Stillman, age 89, died peacefully on October 12, 2025. She was born in Normal, Illinois, on August 23, 1936, the oldest daughter of the late Spencer Littleton and Betty Simandl. On August 12, 1956, Jeanne married James Stillman, and they were married for 62 years until James died in 2018.
Jeanne had a lifelong love of music and shared her talents throughout her life. She studied music at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She sang with a number of musical groups in church and community choral groups. She was a gifted pianist accompanying choirs, musical theater groups, recitals, and high school solo and ensemble competitors. She taught piano lessons for many years, retiring at age 84.
Jeanne was a faithful Christian woman and an active member of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the choir, played handbells, accompanied the children’s choirs, attended bible study, and volunteered in the church office. She was also active in Tri Delta sorority and P.E.O.
Jeanne and Jim traveled all over the world, and loved spending Saturdays “antiquing” in the Hill Country. They opened their hearts and home to several rescue Dobermans who enjoyed their best lives as beloved family members. Jeanne loved being with people and maintained long-distance friendships throughout her life. She will be missed.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Little and her husband Ken of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Susan Arnold and her husband Patrick of Ellijay, Georgia; and grandchildren James Taipale, Joel Maroney (Caity), and Emma Little.
A memorial service will be held at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church on October 25 at 10:00.
Many thanks to all those who watched over and cared for Jeanne during the last years of her life: her neighbors, members of her church, the staff of Belmont Village, Westlake Hills, and the staff of Silverado Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church.
