On Saturday, May 29th, 2021, heaven gained an angel. Jeannie Davidson peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family. Jeannie was adored by everyone who met her. She had more energy than 10 people and was always up for an adventure. She attacked life with zeal and gusto. Even when she was diagnosed with a very rare breast cancer, her terrific attitude was unwavering. She never let cancer define her or slow her down. Jeannie never complained and you would never know she was sick. Her positive energy filled up any room. She was truly a great example of how to lead a kind, loving life.
Jeannie could not sit still and was always looking for her next project (whether you were ready to participate or not)! She had a tremendous love for Christmas. Decorating Christmas trees was a week’s long affair. She had a vision and would not stop till every branch was adorned (and the box of ornaments was empty)! She made every holiday better, but her passion was Christmas. She even won the Christmas tree competition at her apartment complex.
Her wanderlust led her to travel the world. She went on numerous trips with her family and friends to Paris, Turkey, Germany, Botswana, Kenya and Thailand to name a few, though, her all-time favorite destination was Israel. It held a very special place in her heart because of the biblical history. She was always ready to pack her bags and have another adventure.
Jeannie had a strong love of animals. Well, mostly all animals except snakes. She hated snakes! Jeannie’s beloved dog, Sadie, was right by her side when she went to heaven. When we went to Honduras, she held sloths, parrots and monkeys. She can probably be found in heaven holding the sloth! Jeannie loved cats. She set out cages to trap feral cats and would take them to the vet to be spayed/neutered.
Music and dance were some of her greatest passions. She was always up for listening to live music and going to Don’s Depot to dance. She looked forward to Tuesdays because she had her weekly dance lesson. She was a graceful dancer and was a joy to watch, especially when dancing the salsa. A few of Jeannie’s other favorite things were sweets (especially cokes), flowers, shopping (especially with other people’s money), Turner Classic Movies and God.
Most of all, Jeannie loved her family unconditionally. Her children were her life, and she would move mountains to help them. They were secure in the love she had for them. Her grandchildren were the joy and light of her life. She enjoyed spending time with them, playing with them and watching them participate in their favorite activities. She wanted to be there to see them grow up, graduate from college, marry and have families of their own. Her spirit will surely be with them during those special moments.
Jeannie is now off on her greatest adventure of all. We look forward to joining her one day. She got the best stamp in her passport – HEAVEN.
Jeannie is survived by her beloved children, Beth Walker and husband Jay, and Richard Davidson and wife Vanessa; grandchildren, Hudson Davidson, Ella Davidson, Grayson Davidson, Dillan Walker, and Quinn Walker; brother, Michael Graybeal and wife Mitzy; sister Pam Kreher and husband David; nieces Allison Jones, and Jordan Johnson; nephew Richard Yoakum; great nieces and nephews Eleanor Jones, Landon Jones, Hugh Johnson, Max Johnson, Isaiah Yoakum, Luke Yoakum; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Eugene and Mazie.
Her Celebration of Life will be held @ Hyde Park Church, 3901 Speedway, June 5th. Visitation at 10, with service to follow at 11. She will be laid to rest at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Austin Pets Alive and Hospice Austin.
To celebrate Jeannie’s wonderful life, we are encouraging guests to wear bright, festive clothing!
