Jeffrey Lynn Janosek, age 45, a long-time resident of Austin, was called to his eternal rest on April 26, 2006. Jeffrey was born to Louis and Marjorie Janosek on December 26, 1960 in Landstuhl, Germany while his father was serving in the Air Force. He attended St. Ignatius Catholic School and graduated from William B. Travis High School. He also earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Austin Community College. Jeffrey worked for a number of years at the Austin Public Library until he took early retirement because his health no longer allowed him to continue working. Following retirement, Jeff became an activist in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Jeff found his calling in speaking out about AIDS awareness and prevention. Thanks to the discovery of anti-viral cocktails, Jeff lived 14 years beyond his diagnosis. Jeff believed that the medications available today are sending a message of false security to todays youth. He believed his mission was talking to anyone who would listen about preventing HIV/AIDS. Jeff worked for several years at The Wright House Wellness Center as a systems administrator. He greatly valued the friendships that he made there and he was extremely grateful for the flexibility they allowed in his scheduling, which enabled him to continue working while fighting his disease. Jeff had an eye for beauty. He enjoyed taking photographs of flowers, and he had an extensive collection of beautiful crystal figurines that he collected from various parts of the world. His floral arrangements were awe-inspiring, and he liked to use those talents to make others happy. Jeff was an active member of his church, The Metropolitan Community Church. As his health allowed, he was an active volunteer in many areas of the church including speaking and singing. His friends, colleagues, and family will forever cherish the memory of his service to others and his courage, strength, and productivity during his long battle with AIDS. His love for those around him was expressed not only in words but in his actions and deeds. He is survived by his loving parents, Louis and Majorie Janosek; his brother, Louis and wife Sarah; and his beloved niece and nephews, Nora, Clay, and Will. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Avenue. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1st, 2006, at Metropolitan Community Church, 8601 S. 1st Street. Pastor Bill Young will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Wright House Wellness Center, 4301-B North IH-35, Austin, TX 78722. Memorials and guestbook online at wcfish.com
