Long time Austin resident Jerri Riley passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2003. Jerri was the consummate thought-provoking, non-conformist who loved her family and extensive circle of eclectic friends. She was born in Gonzales, TX in 1951 and traveled the world with her military family who eventually settled in Beaumont, TX. Jerri's community involvement took root in Beaumont where she appeared in numerous theatre productions and beauty pageants, and became active in Democratic politics. After moving to her beloved Austin in the 1970's she pursued interests in horticulture, natural foods, and community activism. Jerri's interests were varied and legion as her friends and family can attest. She is survived by her daughter Ana Riley of Austin, mother Annie R. Riley, and sister Shannon Riley both of Houston, and brother Greg Riley and sister-in-law Ronnie Riley, 4 nieces and nephews of Waycross, GA. She was preceded in death by her father Lt. Col. Perry N. Riley Sr., and beloved brother Perry N. Riley Jr. A visitation will be held Monday, December 29th from 1-2pm at Weed Corley-Fish Funeral Home. This will be followed at 2pm by a non-traditional memorial service honoring her life. We are honoring Jerri's request that no black be worn, only gray, "if you must." Later the same evening a party honoring the circle of life will be held. All friends and family are encouraged to attend. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, 452-8811.
