

Jerry Wayne Fults was born on October 16, 1946 in Pasadena, Texas and passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025 at the Christopher House Hospice in Austin, Texas after a long 7-year battle with renal disease.
The family want to thank Fresenius Dialysis, the staff and doctors for care and love throughout this time, and thank heavens for the staff and the beautiful end-of-life setting at the Christopher House Hospice. He just fell asleep without pain. Now, he is in the arms of the Lord.
Jerry was a beloved spouse, parent, sibling, cousin, and friend to so many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail of 56 years, his beloved son, Shane and life partner, Lori, brother of the heart, Tom Kanak, sister Tami Derr, Husband, Billy, daughter Sheyanne Murphy, husband, Chad, daughters, Emerie and Brenleigh; sister-in-law, Barbara Hand, daughter Kimberly and sons, Austin and Cormac, brother-in-law, David Kanak, his son, Greg Kanak and Lacy, daughter, Reagan, and countless cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Fults, mother, Francis Marie Fults and brother, Robin Fults.
Jerry’s true passions were his family and friends, his TSPS career with all his friends and associates, Tennis, Football, and butter! And lastly, his life-long besties; you all know who you are!
Jerry’s career accomplishments consisted of him joining the Texas Department of Transportation in 1966, then he worked with the Associated surveyors and engineers 1972/73; in 1973, Jerry joined Geogram Corp., and became the Branch manager of the Austin Office in 1979.
Murfee engineering partnered with Capital Surveying Company in 1983, and then Jerry became the sole owner of Capital surveying company Inc. in 1984.
He joined Texas Society of Professional Surveyors in 1976 and served as chapter president for 2 terms.
Jerry was a state board member and was involved with many committees over next 20 years, and served as the President State Board of TSPS, 2001-2002.
He was involved in many interesting projects (Supercollider in Texas, Survey of south portion of Matagorda Island, extensive surveys in the Houston ship Channel, Galveston/Bolivar ferry landings).
Jerry became one of the first users of GPS in central Texas in 1989. He was instrumental in providing GPS surveying instructions in early seminars on the use of GPS, providing GPS and conventional surveying services for the project to physically establish the geodetic center of Texas. He retired 2013 and remained as consultant to Capital surveying.
A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, located at 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750, on November 13, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm with a fellowship meal following.
A graveside service will take place at 1 pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery on Highway 59S, in El Campo, Texas on Friday, November 14, 2025 and a meal with the family will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the National Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice.
