Jesse, 59, passed away unexpectedly at home, leaving behind his wife, best friend, and partner in life Michelle Irwin Bennight. This year would have been their 25-year wedding anniversary.

A proud native-Austinite, Jesse was born at Seton Hospital and graduated from Lanier High School. He was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities, most importantly on the Board of Elders.

Most recently, Jesse was very excited to have opened the Bennight – Ziehr Allstate Agency with his friend and partner Mark Ziehr. Previously, Jesse worked as a financial advisor for Thrivent Financial for many years and Mass Mutual. Prior to his advisory career, Jesse owned QMASS -- a consulting firm in the chemical and gas piping industry. He gained his experience in that field working for FST Consulting Group, which he helped to build from a tiny, family-run business to a global entity.

Jesse never met a stranger. He loved getting together with ‘the gang’ – a group of treasured friends, his Escondera neighbors, his Bouldin Creek neighbors, his friends from church, and his clients. He was a fitness enthusiast and enjoyed all forms of exercise – cycling, trail running and working out with his buddies at the gym. Jesse was known around the neighborhood as the ‘grill master’ for his love and talent for cooking anything on the grill. He especially loved working in his little garden, feeding ‘his’ birds, and sharing home-grown tomatoes with everyone.

In addition to his wife, Michelle, Jesse is survived by his mother, Jena Carpenter Cazzola and her husband, Chuck, his brother, Brian Bennight, his cherished daughter, Holly Foster and her husband, Derek, and their two children, the grandchildren that lit up Jesse’s life – Lily and Cooper. He is also missed by Bosley and Stella, the two little dachshunds he loved like children. Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Helton Bennight.

A Celebration of Jesse’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 300 East Monroe Street in Austin, TX with Pastor John Stennfeld officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.

I was a client of Jesse's for years. He always had good advice and some of it was with a bit of humor. Ex: I bought a new car a few years back and his response was "Thought we were planning for retirement." I will miss him as as a friend and know he was always there for me. Another Ex: Jesse went out of his way a couple of weeks ago to sign some paperwork with me at ERS for my retirement. Busy as he was he found the time to assist. I am saddened Jesse is gone but I am also very proud to have known him. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

Jesse is my amazing cousin. Our memories of each other may not be as filled as others, but they are just as treasured. He was always so handsome and self assured. We spent many childhood years having Easter celebrations at our Grandma and Grandpa Bennight's house in the country. All of our cousins loved this. I was small. But Jesse always had a way of watching out for us little ones. I was the little redhead, and he made me feel special. Never picked on me. We connected at family events off and on through the years..and his great wit and intelligence and charisma could light up everywhere he went. I have no doubt that he will continue watching out for his family from above. Planning and guiding and loving them as always. I lift your beloved Michelle and daughter Holly in prayers as they begin a journey without you. May we all continue to speak love and happy memories to share with one another always. Love you Jesse.....the lil redhead cousin

Needless to say, I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Jesse last week. He was a great friend and I could always depend on him to help me out in any situation. I will miss him dearly, as will all his friends and family. My thoughts are with Michelle, Holly and their families, during this difficult time. RIP Jessman, love you brother.
