

On December 13, 2020, Jesusa “Chucha and Jessie” De La Garza passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. She was 92 years old. A lifelong Texas native, Chucha was well-loved. Chucha was the mother of six children. Despite her large family, Chucha always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her family. She and her husband Alberto “Beto” worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids. She would proudly boast about all six of her children.
Chucha was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Beto De La Garza, by her father Melchor Salinas, Sr, her mother Elvira T. Salinas, her daughter Patricia Torres, her sons, Alberto De La Garza, Jr., Jesus Pablo De La Garza, and Andres De La Garza, and her great-great granddaughter June Lyn LaGrone . She is survived by her two surviving children, Elvira (Lucio) Camacho, Eddie (Evelyn) De La Garza, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Jesusa was born and raised in Port Isabel, TX until she moved to Galveston, TX. While in Port Isabel, Jesusa worked in the shrimping industry for 10 years. In Galveston, she worked as a baker at John Sealy Hospital for 17 years until she retired.
Known as a beloved grandma to many, Jesusa always welcomed people with a huge smile and open arms. A devout Catholic, Jesusa, passed on her faith in God to her family. She loved to bake, dance, and shop for purses, shoes and hats.
Jesusa will be dearly missed. Her family is comforted knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her loved ones in heaven.
