Jim N. Ballard, age 52, of Austin, formerly of Lexington, Kentucky and Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2003. Jim was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Lafayette High School and UK in 1974, with a degree in Journalism. Jim was a longtime radio broadcaster in Kentucky, the Carolinas, and Florida. Jim was a resident of Greenville, South Carolina for 12 years prior to moving to Austin in 2001. He was known as Trapdoor to his WMYI listeners, and was the producer of the Love & Hudson Morning Show. He was also employed by Apache Products in Anderson, South Carolina, as Help Desk Administrator. He was preceded in death by his father, James N. Buddy Ballard, and mother, Freda Reynolds Ballard. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Monica, and daughter, Diana Ballard, both of Austin; and sister, Janice Dixon, of Pineville, Kentucky. Services will be held at a later date.
