

Jo Dawn Noble, 73, passed peacefully from this life to the next on Sunday, September 18th at her home in Austin, Texas, after a lengthy fight with lung cancer. Born on February 17th, 1943, she was the first daughter and third child of Roy and Dora Hill of Amarillo, TX. Jo Dawn studied English literature at West Texas State University and Texas Christian University before completing a Master of Education at Southwest Texas State University. She was a lifelong dog- lover who enjoyed spending time with friends and family, tending to her garden, and traveling the United States, as well as abroad.
Community service was always at the core of Jo Dawn's life. She served the Austin community through a career in education that spanned over 30 years at various schools, including Allan Junior High School, LBJ High School, and most notably Burnet Middle School, where she worked as an assistant principal for over 20 years.
Outside of work, she served as a board member for Juliette Fowler Communities, worked as a Crop Hunger Walk chairperson, and volunteered in the Micah 6 Food Pantry. Jo Dawn was honored as a Life Elder by University Christian Church where she also taught Sunday school and served as a member of the outreach committee. She was a Stephen Minister leader in her later years and a Girl Scout Troop leader in her earlier years.
Jo Dawn is survived by her husband, Carl Noble; children, Kendra Robertson, Leah Robertson (Jim Eno), Amelia Gates (Terrell Gates), and Veronica Noble; and her grandchildren, Drew and Finn Eno and Grayson, Parker, and Adeline Gates.
Jo Dawn's memorial service will be held at University Christian Church in Austin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 21st with a reception to follow.
