On June 20, 2009, our loving Mother went to be with our Lord. Mom passed away in Austin, Texas at the age of 79. She was born on 6/17/1930 in Red Lake Falls, MN to Gerald E and Bonnie Bell Ersland. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald O. Nelson, her parents and 6 siblings Joe, Jerry, John, Perry, Jean, and Julia. She graduated from high school in Clarion, Iowa and worked as a waitress, nursing asst, home maker and Mother. She loved jitterbug dancing, gambling, bowling, lively spirits and having a great time. Joan is survived by her four children, Ricky D. Nelson, Penny L. Arnold (Gary), Ronnie D. Nelson, and Peggy R. Schweitzer (Robert); grandchildren, David K. Arnold (Jamilla), Tiffany Marie Arnold and Lindy Rae Schweitzer; her great-granddaughter D'Angela L. Arnold. Interment and memorial services will be held in Belmond, Iowa at the Belmond Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Donald O. Nelson.
