Joann Marie McCown

JoAnn Marie (Keilen) McCown, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at St. David’s Main Medical Center Austin, TX, after battling a serious viral brain infection. She held a career in Nursing, a homemaker, as well as a home health care provider up until her passing. She was a strong believer in her Catholic Faith, participated in spiritual guidance for new church goers, as well as participating very actively in her Steven ministry advocacy for the sick and dying.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Dana McCown, parents Gerhard and MaryAlice Keilen, brothers Robert and Donald sisters Margaret and Susanne.

She is survived by her children Jonathan McCown and Suzanne McCown Richmond, grandchildren Savanna Richmond, Sierra Richmond, Dana Richmond, Corwin Richmond Jr as well as great grandchildren SaRae and Preston Barnett and Emerald Nails, brothers Gerhard Jr, Thomas, Paul Anthony and sisters Mary Katherine and Yvonne Marie.

A funeral mass and memorial celebration will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 N FM 620, Austin, Texas, 78726.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or please consider a memorial offering to assist the children with funeral expenses, which is greatly appreciated.
