

Joann White (Blount) born October 28, 1948, passed away August 9, 2026, from complications of advanced dementia. She leaves behind her husband Fred Alfonzo White of 52 years, a daughter April Yvette White Brockett of Bloomington, Mn., son Brian Scott White of Austin, Texas, grandson Christopher Royal James Brockett of Augusta Georgia and granddaughter Brittany Joyce Joann Brockett Bloomington, MN, as well as a host of loving relatives and friends.
She was born in Randolph County, Georgia, on a farm owned by her grandparents. Joann was the youngest child of Terry and Annie Will Blount.
At an early age she was baptized at St Luke Baptist Church, Randolph County GA. She attended Coleman Elementary School, Coleman Ga, and graduated from Henderson High School, Cuthbert, Ga. She enrolled at Albany State University, just 50 miles east of Cuthbert, where she obtained her BS degree in Biology. She began her career as a biology teacher in the Miami Florida school system and later in Tampa Florida at Plant High School.
She met her husband, Fred White, while in Tampa. Over the next twenty years she lived in five different cities in the Continental US and three European countries as a spouse of a United States Air Force military member. While living in various parts of the world, she earned her Master's Degree in Counseling from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. She was a High School guidance counselor for 20 years in various cities such as Mesa Arizona, Wiesbaden Germany, Sumter South Carolina, and Austin, Texas and finally retired from the Austin Texas Independent School District but she later continued her counseling services as a professional guidance counselor consultant.
The family joined and actively participated as members of Wesley United Methodist Church of Austin, Texas. She made many friends from all over the world, and she stayed in touch with many of them throughout her life. However, the real strength of her life was her family and her students. The energy for which she taught as a classroom teacher and guidance counselor was unmatched, which was deeply appreciated by students and other teachers alike.
She truly loved her family and students and went out of her way to help them and offer solutions for educational decisions and life situations which they encountered. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
