

Joanna Doris Schulze, also fondly known as Gammie, passed away peacefully at Christopher House in Austin Texas on the 15th of December 2013 at the age of 86. Gammie was born on the 2nd of March 1927 in Burnet, Texas. Gammie lived much of her life in the central Texas area including in Burnet, Brenham, Navasota, and Austin. Her family has always seen her as a wonderfully strong, caring, and compassionate person who was the strength of our family. Joanna will be remembered by many from her dedication to supporting the students and transportation staff in AISD, retiring as Transportation Supervisor after more than 20 years of service.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Seton Central and Christopher House in Austin, Texas. In the final months of her life, Gammie was cared for by health care professionals who were personally interested in her and her family.
Joanna lived much of her life in support of her family always giving freely to those who needed her help. Joanna was preceded in death by her parents and five of her six siblings. Her youngest remaining sibling is Lilly McSpaden. Joanna's children include Doris Ancira, who preceded her in death, Gary Gillum, Lori Schiller, and Donna Clifton, spouse Todd Clifton.
Her grandchildren are Rhonda Norris, spouse William Norris;Jamie Mont, spouse Gene Mont; Candice Laidley, spouse; Charlie Laidley; Matthew Gillum and Cory Gillum, spouse Cassie Gillum; and Sherry Kemp, Scott Schiller, and Crystal White.
Her great grandchildren are Natasha Norris and Nicholas Norris; Christopher Hochstetler, Brandon Hochstetler, Amber Hochstetler, and John Matthew Hochstetler; Hailey Clifton; Jonathan Laidley, Cara Laidley, and Addison Laidley; Lane Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson, and Alexis Sessoms; Kaylee Schiller; and Neveah White, Anaya White, Elijah White, and Zayden White.
Aunt Jo, as she was known by the extended family, has many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her and will miss her greatly. Joanna's family will miss her strength and compassion and know that she has been welcomed by her parents, siblings, and daughter.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Chapel, 2620 South Congress Avenue with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm.
