

Joe S. Badgett of Austin, Texas passed on Monday 3-29-04 after a brief illness. Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, successful businessman, a scholar and a true gentleman. He will be missed by all those who knew him. Joe was born in Denison, TX on 12-6-22. He served in WWII as a combat engineer in the 554th Engineers Battalion. He graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1948 and entered the construction business. He started Joe Badgett Construction, Inc. in 1957 and was a successful general contractor in Austin until his retirement in the mid 1980s. Joe built many prominent Austin buildings including the Austin American Statesman, Abbott Laboratories, the Republic Bank Bldg. and First Presbyterian Church on Mesa Dr. Joe was a former president of the Austin Chapter of the Associated General Contractors and was a 33rd Degree Mason. Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Earline Badgett, son and business partner Scott & his wife Rhonda of Austin, grandson Ben Badgett, daughter Karol Ann Badgett of Austin, and daughter Kathy Pochi & her husband Alan of Boston Mass.
