Joe Bentley Byrd, longtime resident of Austin, Texas, passed to Our Lord after a brief illness on October 2, 2007. Joe was born in 1933 in Iraan, Texas, the son of Irene Kennemer and Roy Lee Byrd. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother Samuel Lee, and sister Mary Margaret. Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Lee Smith Byrd, his sons Randall Lee (Hilda), Mark Gregory (Donna) and daughter, Allison Anne Lamberth (Ray). "Grampy" as he is fondly referred to by his six grandchildren, Richard, Alejandra, & Gabrilla Byrd, Luke, Jake, & Ben Lamberth is also survived by his sisters, Norma Sue Aery, Pat Gainer, and numerous nieces & nephews. An avid outdoorsman and pilot, he spent his life flying, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of South & Central Texas. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd., Lakeway, Texas at 1:00 PM. In lieu of the usual remembrances, those desiring may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
