Joe was born in West Helena, Arkansas on November 8, 1942. He graduated from Harding Academy and continued to get his Bachelor’s degree from Harding University and a Master’s degree from the University of Houston.
He was married to Carol (Whatley) Spaulding on December 15, 1962 and worked in education for over forty years. Locally, he enjoyed working at Eanes Independent School District, Texas Education Agency and The Internal Revenue Service. He was a dedicated member at Westover Hills Church of Christ since 1977.
Joe is survived by his wife, Carol; one son, Mike and his wife Kim; two grandchildren, Shelby and Ally; his sister, Francene Goss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Joe P. and Donna Spaulding; and his son, Kent.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 12, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Mark Patterson of Westover Hills Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow the Services at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
