

Joe was a kind, gentle loving man who was well known for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He touched many lives throughout his life with his kindness and sense of humor; he enjoyed making people laugh. Joe enjoyed playing his guitar and singing and was the "entertainer" at the Ybarbo family gatherings. He also enjoyed being in movies as an "extra". He was in three western movies filmed in Austin. Joe was "full of love" and would share it with everyone he met. He will be missed not only by his family but also by his many friends. Joe was very proud of his heritage and the "Ybarbo" name. He was a descendant of Gil Antonio Ybarbo, founder of present day city of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Joe served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Texas National Guard. He was employed at Adjutant General's Department - Texas National Guard, Camp Mabry as a truck driver for United State Property & Fiscal Office (U.S.P.F.O) from which he retired at the age of 60. He delivered and picked up Army supplies all throughout the state of Texas. After retirement, he continued to work 10 more years for BMW/Lexus of Austin. Joe was a hard worker and enjoyed being around people.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Julia Ybarbo; two daughters, Sylvia Ybarbo Rodriguez and husband Joe and Cindy Ybarbo Duran; four grandchildren, Michael Garcia and wife Daisy, Denise
Vasquez and husband Christopher, Natalie Alcorta and husband Leonel, and Paul Guerra. Joe is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Ryan Garcia, Nicolas Alcorta, Christopher Vasquez and Emily Lopez; brothers, Jesse Ybarbo and John Ybarbo; sister, Carmen Ybarbo and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at South Austin Hospital and the Fresenius dialysis staff for the tender care they provided for Joe.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, South Congress location. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Dolores Catholic Church, 1111 Montopolis Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Dolores Catholic Church with Rev. Albert Capello Ruiz officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Garcia, Joe Rodriguez, Michael Garcia, Paul Guerra, Jesse Ybarbo, Christopher Vasquez and Leonel Alcorta.
