

John England, 72, of Dripping Springs, Texas, passed away on February 19, 2008 after a lengthy battle with Leukemia (AML). He was born January 31, 1936 in Summit, New Jersey. John had a strong work ethic which he demonstrated throughout his life both professionally and in his local community, where he was a strong civic leader. His professional career included coaching hockey, building gravity meters for LaCoste & Romberg, commander of operations for Loomis Armored Car Service, dispatcher for the City of Austin and a pharmacy attendant at Dripping Springs Pharmacy. John served in the United States Air Force and the Texas Army National Guard. While in the guard he was called to active duty to serve during Operation Desert Storm, in 1991. He retired from the guard in 1996. John was a faithful child of God and a founding member of New Life Lutheran Church in Dripping Springs. He was a member of the SRSTA and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. He was a commander of the VFW Post #2933 and a member of the Lions Club of Austin & Dripping Springs. He is preceded in death by his parents, Percy Edgar England and Luetta Ann Richardson England, and step-mother Fannie England. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Green England, son Ed England and wife Melanie, daughter Joyce Marshall and husband Robert, both of Austin, daughter Sheri Rhoades and husband Rick of Lewisville, and daughter Christina Seekatz of Austin, grandchildren Brian England, Heather & Elizabeth Marshall, Jack, Jenae, Jayci & Julie Rhoades and Matthew Seekatz, and brother Arthur England of Alabama, and numerous extended family & friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Kasper & his staff, Seton Hospital 7th floor nurses, the caregivers of Odyssey HealthCare, the nurses & staff at Stonebridge Health Center and especially Pastor Brad Highum for his loving support of John & Shirley during this time. A visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2008, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Brad Highum officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Life Lutheran Church of Dripping Springs, or a charity of your choice.
